Sluik - disposable curator of Natland SB galleri
The director managing of Natland SB galleri thought it would be a nice waste of time to participate in an external art project so Natland SB got invited by a Danish organization called The Travellers Box (TSB). A toolkit & instruction book was send by their co-curator from Oslo just before Christmas 2010. So now Natland SB is playing for a week or two with the offered materials consisting out of a metal box, a plastic sheet, a blanket and some rope and re-uses the words in the instruction book. The process of NATLAND SB into a BOX can be followed online.

What is a former contemporary artist ?
I make a distinction between the terms visual artist and contemporary artist. Contemporary artists are rare: not all visual living artists today are contemporary and in the mean time not all contemporary artists are visual artists. There are many visual artists calling themselves contemporary without thinking about the term. There are also (too?) many persons calling themselves artist without thinking about the contents of the word artist but not all artist necessarily have to think. I have come to the conclusion that i have tried to be a contemporary artist and been it at least for a few seconds but am not sure if i succeeded in the continuation of trying till present.
Therefor i call myself today a former contemporary artist. Something i am now. I am former now. I might become present again or even contemporary one day. This could also be when i am not around anymore. It does all in all not matter much: these self given titles, tags and labels but it clears the air a little. Any other questions?

The birth of a new art galleri in Bergen
I have initiated a new gallery for conceptual art where there is no need for participation of art or artists. It is a low energy and no budget activity. This gallery can be set up in any urban setting. This one consists out of one nail i did not even put there myself. More details? Visit: Natland SB art Galleri or do not hesitate and contact me.

Parzifal in Hordaland - Lecture March 2010
BEK in Bergen invites former contemporary artist Ron Sluik for a public lecture Thursday evening 19.00, 4th March 2010 at HKS in Bergen. Usually some 10 or so people show up here but Sluik likes a full house and aims for 20?
He will avoid to talk about older works, the amazing revival of a pop career, his slides collection, Duinkerken or Duchamp, the networks he is still using, his neighbours, his love for Norway, the work for money, Carla, unstable urbanism, the club, his endless wandering and his future plans.
In stead he will explain why he has been looking around his house for clues and trails, tracks and traces of PARZIFAL... purely because he wants to believe that the hereafter must be here now! He will illustrate his talk with loads of pictures.
This invitation is compulsory for some who read this.

Hunting Gonzo Architecture! - nov 2009
TVERR KURS Workshop at Bergen Arkitekt Skole - 45 week 2009
A multi-disciplinary open form art workshop for architect students in the 4/5 year at Bergen Arkitekt Skole examining phenomena and principles of contemporary art and architecture through a focused quest.
In the workshop different approaches and techniques are used to hunt down, observe, describe and visualize a movement in architecture which, looking back in a century or two, might be the most interesting architectural activity of our times but in the same moment also the best ignored one. A style which has no real general name yet. But recently some observers decided to call it: Gonzo Architecture.
Gonzo Architecture stands for subjective critical building which is uncompromisingly bold and self-assured in the human sense but also has a global awareness and moral responsibility towards the even greater surroundings. Gonzo architecture can be found where reality and Utopia juxtapose.
This workshop will include lectures, mixed & new media, video & photography, text & design, out- & indoor fieldwork, discussion & research. It aims to develop and enhance for the participants several mental tools possibly worthwhile in their future careers like focused creativity, methods of artistic selection, personal ethics within global norms, associative thinking, self-positioning and a widening theory of relativity.

9th Floor FAMU Gallery - feb 2009
The grand building of the FAMU academy in the heart of Prague consists out of 4 floors for creative studies. A part of it though might seem a little unhappy or maybe more ambitious: The elevator invites you to 5 more floors! Till now a voice inside the cabin announces, after pressing a higher number than 4: "Input Incorrect". But HERE the 9th floor is OPEN for visitors.Former contemporary artist Ron Sluik was invited by Robert Silverio to give a series of lectures (U1 and U2) and a modul-workshop at the photo department. About 7,5 students participated. The starting point was to discover (temporary) ready-mades in urban surroundings. socalled: URMs and TURMs. The workshop evolved furthermore and amongst a thousand other issues into a key to storytelling, the process of deleting/selecting, an introduction to change looking into seeing and the meaning of snowmen in modern societies in transition . This gallery shows some of the visual results after 5 days of dedicated working.

Sluik RECLAME - august 2009
Due to unexpected lack of work here a serious call for helping hands follows: Former contemporary artist Sluik (NL,1961) is looking for new activities as researcher, guest lecturer, teacher or advisor in the art related world anywhere on the globe. Due to circumstances immediately available, especially from 24 August till Christmas 2009. In his own words: “I am excellent short term company with longterm capacities. A more than inspiring workshop leader, a funny but straightforward lecturer, a boundless storyteller, a perfect solver of other people's problems, a think-tank in one or more. A judge with balls. A person who opens doors others might overlook. An analytic researcher and professional reviewer with angle and wit. A listening webman. A solid person without fear to share his disabilities. In short: a devoted worker to all good and who claims to be clever enough in contemporary visionary figurative art, Nordic abstract tao and reverse art colonialism, emotional constructivism, real virtualitivism, subjective photography, gonzo architecture, temporary urban ready mades, creative anarcho-conservative processes and postmodern empirical social media and on top of that not afraid to question all this”.
So he is offering himself in the fields of free photography, mixed media, gonzo architecture, old new media and art philosophy. Please do not hesitate to contact or link us. Think of Sluik when you need someone like him or if you know someone else who has been looking for him a long time. We make him except. We also warned him he should be realist enough to know that silence will follow but surprise us and show that we are wrong.
